Research Interests:
Modern Muslim intellectual identity in twentieth century colonial and post-colonial South Asia. Examines how debates amongst Urdu intelligentsia about ethical conduct, moral self-hood, and civil society were shaped both by older cosmopolitan social and political networks in colonial North India, as well as anti-colonial internationalist forces, such as communism.
