Mission Statement

1. Our primary goal is to encourage the enjoyment of the sport of SCUBA diving.
   1. To promote diving, the club intends to organize group dives not only in the New England area but also throughout the country, according to the individual members' interests.
   2. The club also intends to organize social events outside of dive weekends so that newcomers will be able to meet new "buddies" and enjoy the company of their fellow divers.
   3. We would also like to periodically team up with fellow SCUBA clubs in the Boston area, such as the M.I.T. club, the New England Aquarium Scuba club as well as other local organizations in order to network and enjoy the sport with others.
   4. In teaming up with other organizations, we intend to participate in various community service projects such as reef cleaning, fish and wildlife preservation, and environmental awareness.
2. In order to ensure the continuation of SCUBA diving at Tufts, the club will act as a means by which interested Tufts students and faculty can get information on how to obtain their certification through local dive shops.
   1. We plan on maintaining a mutually beneficial relationship with local dive shops. In exchange for discounts on certifications, equipment, and trips for our members, the club will refer potential as well as certified divers to those shops.
   2. With the minimal funding we hope Tufts can grant, the club would like to purchase sport literature so that our members can become better educated about SCUBA diving and the environmental aspect of the sport.
   3. The club will utilize the Tufts athletics facilities to provide a safe and convenient environment for diving skills training.
3. One of the most important parts of SCUBA diving is safety. We would like to make safety awareness an integral part of our club. By encouraging safe diving practices through the "buddy system," we ensure that our members can safely enjoy SCUBA diving.
