Fall 2011 Photo Contest

Studying abroad changes you. We want to see how you've grown.

Did you study Spanish, French, Italian, or Portuguese abroad? Submit a photo that represents the essence of your experience to the Department of Romance Languages' Fall 2011 Photo Contest!

Your photo should embody the spirit of your study abroad experience and be much more than just a typical ‘picture-postcard' shot. Your photo should inspire us to learn more about your host country or city and make us want to study abroad.

Show us a glimpse of the culture and tradition in which you were immersed, whether it be a cross-cultural interaction with locals or reveal a cultural event, beyond what a tourist would experience.

2nd Place - $50.00
3rd Place - $25.00

All photo submissions will be posted on our website here. Some of the top photos will be printed to display prominently throughout Olin Center.

Please read the Official Entry Rules and Regulations carefully; then submit your Application Form, photo file, and Photo Release Form(s) (if applicable) to the Department on or before the November 1st, 2011 deadline to be considered.

Official Entry Rules and Regulations

Eligible Photos:

• Your Study Abroad experience must have been in a Spanish, French, Italian, or Portuguese speaking host country.
• "Study Abroad" may also include an internship or employment abroad, but does not include vacation travel. (However, vacation travel that is done while on a program abroad does qualify.)
• Submissions must be accompanied by a caption or description
• ONE photo submission per person
• Uploaded photos can't be enhanced or digitally altered in any way
• Photos must be taken by (or of) the entrant, outside of their home country
• Photos must be submitted as a high resolution print (300 dpi or greater, with a max of 5MB)
• You must be a current Tufts student

How to Apply

Step 1:
Complete the 2011 Photo Contest Application and submit it to the Department of Romance Languages, Olin Center, Room 226.

Step 2:
Email ONE high resolution digital image (300dpi or greater, in jpeg format only, no bigger than 5MB) to Michelle.Daunais@tufts.edu.

• The subject of the email should read:
  '2011 Photo Contest – YOUR LAST NAME'.
• In the email, please include the caption for your photo.

Step 3:
Submit the Photo Release Form for every individual in the photo, if applicable. Please contact Michelle.Daunais@tufts.edu if you have any questions about this form.

Contest Specifications:

• Your photograph will be judged by the Photo Contest Committee, made up of Romance Languages Faculty and Staff.
• It will be judged on how well it expresses your experience or cross-cultural interaction.

Timeline:

• Submit your photo on or before the November 1st, 2011 deadline.
• Judging will take place, and the winners of the Photo Contest will be announced, in the beginning of November.
