The Future Worked done in the Fall 2004 semester with the 2D Fly Tracker system will continue through the spring. The system currently developed will go into use this coming year in helping researchers identify genes that may affect Parkinson’s disease. Much additional work lay ahead in developing an even better system custom designed to the needs and specifications of the NEMC lab. In the Future, we hope to expand the system to acquire and process data from many more flies using more trays on multiple cameras attached to several computers. Further development of the analysis programs will be made to reflect the new traits of the flies that the researchers will be interested in studying. Already some of the new criteria being suggested are distance traveled and areas of activity. A proposal is to be submitted in early February for funding of continued research and system development.
