Policies and Procedures

Poster Policy

The Office of Residential Life and Learning (ORLL) has policies and procedures concerning posters and flyers inside of all residential buildings.  The poster policy is designed to increase the readability of all postings by limiting the volume of any single posting.  Please note that the residential staff will post all materials.

The procedure for distributing advertising materials to residence halls is as follows:

  1. Prepare your poster
  2. Make 100 copies of the poster for distribution in the staffed residence halls.  If you would like posters distributed to non-staffed halls (Latin Way and Hillside) and small houses, you should make an additional 20 copies.
  3. Bring the posters to the Office of Residential Life and Learning, South Hall, for approval.  The individual who brought the approved copies will then stamp each copy and fill residences’ boxes with the appropriate number of copies.
  4. To be approved, posters must include the following information:
Name of TCU-recognized club, organization, department, or office
Name and telephone number of individuals to contact for more information
Date and time of event (if applicable)
  5. Once posters are stamped in the Office of Residential Life and Learning, the staff will distribute copies to the residential staff in the residence halls.  Posters will be displayed the next day in staffed buildings.  Non-staffed buildings have materials distributed weekly; posters will go up within 5 business days in those buildings.
  6. After the event has occurred, the residential staff or One Source will remove and recycle the poster.
  7. The ORLL reserves the right to refuse any posting based on its content or lack of required information.  The ORLL works collaboratively with the Dean of Students Office to ensure that postings in our residence halls are informative, fair, and constructive.

Please note three specific points to this policy:

  1. Residential Life and Learning Staff or One Source will immediately remove any posters displayed on glass, painted surfaces, floors, or outside of specified bulletin boards.
  2. The maximum number of posters to be photocopied and stamped for the residence halls is 100.  Additional copies will not be allowed in the residence halls.
  3. Students or staff from clubs ,organizations, departments, or offices may not place the posters in the residence halls themselves.
