  Undergraduate Program: The Majors

Plan Your Major

Many psychology majors or prospective psychology majors who wish to emphasize or specialize in a particular area of psychology wonder which course sequences are most appropriate for them. The following course organization is offered as a guideline to assist students in planning their major to meet individual needs and objectives. The faculty encourages flexibility in course selection and each student should plan his or her selections with the help of an advisor or a member of the psychology faculty.

Faculty members most closely associated with each area are listed next to it. Psychology 1 and 31 are basic to psychology, required of all majors, and thus have not been classified. This is also the case for Psychology 32 with the exception of Clinical psychology majors for whom this course is not required.
