Psi Chi: The National
Honor Society in Psychology
What is Psi Chi?
Psi Chi
is the National Honor Society in Psychology whose
purpose is to recognize, encourage, stimulate, and maintain excellence
in scholarship of students of psychology. To achieve these goals, Psi
Chi offers a wide range of local, regional, and national programs to
enhance the learning experience of its members. Membership in Psi Chi is
open to all undergraduates who meet the eligibility criteria for their
local chapter.
Am I Eligible?
The criteria for the Tufts chapter are:
1. An overall GPA of at least 3.50*.
2. The completion of at least 4 courses in
psychology and an overall psychology GPA of at least 3.60*.
3. General Experimental Psychology, Biopsychology,
Clinical Psychology, and Engineering Psychology majors must have
completed
Psychology 31.
* If your overall GPA or your psychology GPA does not
meet the foregoing standards, you may petition to become a member of
Psi Chi by submitting a personal statement describing your
accomplishments in your major and why you believe you qualify for
Psi Chi. You must also submit the name of at least one faculty
member who may be consulted regarding your petition.
How Do I Apply for
Membership?
If you would like to be considered for membership in Psi
Chi please complete either Application Form 1 or Form 2 in the
Psychology Department, 490 Boston Ave, OR print the forms from this
website (Form
1,
Form 2). Return the completed form and any
required supporting materials to the mailbox of
Professor Joe DeBold in
the Psychology Department by October 1 for Fall semester induction and
February 1 for Spring semester induction.
