Illness PolicyStudent Illness Medical Documentation PolicyTufts' Health Service provides "Medical Notes" to excuse
an absence in only limited circumstances. Students who are
too ill to take an in-class mid-term or final exam will be
offered medical documentation. They must be seen at Health
Service prior to the exam and must notify their professor
prior to the exam. All other academic responsibilities that
cannot be met due to medical illness should be communicated
directly between student and professor using the online
"Illness Notification Form" that is available in WebCenter
for Students. Illness Notification Forms should be used for
missed classes, labs, or seminars, missed quizzes and oral
presentations, and late papers or take-home exams that need
to be delayed. Faculty members have different class attendance
policies, and the use of the online notification system does
not negate these policies. We ask that you do all that you can
to accommodate students who are ill. If you are concerned that
one of your students is reporting excessive absences using the
Illness Notification system, consult the student's academic dean. |
