Sarah Terry is nationally recognized for her research on Eastern
Europe and the former Soviet Union. She is author of Poland’s Place
in Europe (Princeton, 1983), winner of the George Louis Beer Prize
in European International History of the American Historical
Association; editor of Soviet Policy in Eastern Europe (Council
on Foreign Relations and Yale, 1984); and co-editor of
The Soviet Empire Reconsidered (Westview,
1995). Her latest articles include: “Thinking About Post-Communist
Transitions: How Different Are They?”, “Beyond the Cold War: Prospects
for Central European Security and Cooperation in a Post Communist
World,” and “Poland’s Foreign Policy since 1989: The Challenges of
Independence.” She is currently working on a book on the international
relations of Central and Eastern Europe since 1990.
