Kostas A. Lavdas - International Relations

Kostas A. Lavdas is Professor of Political Science and Director of the Crete Centre for Political Research and Documentation (KEPET) at the University of Crete, Greece, where he has been Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs (2004-2006) and Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences (2003-2004). He studied political science and political sociology, at Panteion-Athens, the University of Manchester, L.S.E. and M.I.T. He has published extensively in English, German and Greek on European politics, Greek politics and policy, comparative interest group politics, and applied political theory. From 2004-07 Lavdas served on the Board of the Hellenic Centre for European Studies, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and on the Board of the Centre for Educational Research, Ministry of Education, Athens. His publications include The Europeanization of Greece: Interest Politics and the Crises of Integration (Macmillan, 1997), Politics, Subsidies and Competition (with M. Mendrinou) (Edward Elgar, 1999), Formation and Development of the European Communities (in Greek) (Hellenic Open University, 2003), and Interests and Politics: Interest Organization and Patterns of Governance (in Greek) (Papazisis, 2004). During 2007-2008 he is Constantine Karamanlis Professor of Hellenic and European Studies at the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy.
