About Us

Evelyn G. Pitcher

groundbreaking ceremony of
Eliot-Pearson Center, April 28, 1962
Named in honor of a pioneering educator, advocate and former chair of the Eliot-Pearson Department of Child Study and Human Development, the curriculum lab supports current and future teachers in the development and delivery of early childhood curriculum, as well as documentation, assessment and critical reflection on student learning.

The lab hosts educational activities for Tufts students and early childhood teachers and administrators who support dual language learners in urban settings. Our workshops and conferences explore topics such as bilingual and bicultural literacy in dual language learners and the latest innovations in early childhood teaching and learning.

A multi-purpose space, the Evelyn G. Pitcher Curriculum Resource Lab includes an art/workshop studio, computers, a classroom/seminar space with complete audio-visual capabilities, and a collection of books and early childhood classroom materials. The lab also provides resources to assist undergraduate and graduate student teachers in developing curriculum plans, as well as a library of books and materials for use in practice sites.
