Pauli Kehayias Receives Barry M. Goldwater
Scholarship
Sophomore Pauli Kehayias has been named one
of the 2007 Barry M. Goldwater Scholarship
recipients. These highly competitive
national awards recognize outstanding math,
science and engineering undergraduates across
the country.
Oliver completes Boston Marathon
Professor and Department Chair Bill Oliver successfully completed the
2007 Boston Marathon. This was his fourth year
running as part of the President’s Marathon
Challenge, which raises funds for medical and
nutrition research at Tufts.

Ford named Fellow of the American Physical Society
Congratulations to Prof. Larry Ford on being named a Fellow of the American
Physical Society for his "pioneering contributions to quantum field theory
in flat and curved spacetime". He is the fifth member of the department to
receive this honor, which can be bestowed on no more than one-half of one
percent of APS members each year.
Department Mourns John Burlingame
The Department notes with sadness the
passing of long-time friend and benefactor John
Burlingame. He was a graduate of the department
and for many years a distinguished executive at
General Electric. He endowed the
Burlingame Fellowship, which is awarded annually to one or more outstanding graduate students.
