Prof. Richard is Chair of the Department. He is on leave.

Professor Mark Richard specializes in logic and philosophy of language. He attended Hamilton College, the University of Freiberg in West Germany and the University of Massachusetts, Amherst. Richard has published a book (Propositional Attitudes) and numerous articles; he is an editor for the journal Linguistics and Philosophy. He is an avid hiker, an adequate cook of Mexican and Thai food, a mediocre woodworker, and has the Department's largest collection of Mission of Burma records.
