Raoul Moati is a Philosophy Teaching Assistant at Paris Pantheon-Sorbonne University, where he is working on a Contemporary Philosophy Ph.D. about ordinary language and deconstruction. His first book about the subject (Derrida/Searle langage ordinaire et déconstruction) will be published by the Presses Universitaires de France at the end of the year.

His main interests are the interpretation of Hegel in France in the 20th century from the point of view of finite human existence (Kojève and his philosophical influence), psychoanalysis (Freud, Lacan), and speech act theory in analytic philosophy (Austin, Grice, Searle) and Continental philosophy (Derrida and American deconstruction). He is also very interested in Cavell's The Claim of Reason.

His favorite books are Hegel's Phenomenology of Spirit, Husserl's Logical Investigations, Heidegger's Being and Time, Kojève's Introduction to the reading of Hegel, Derrida's Of Grammatology, Lacan's Ecrits and Seminars, Austin's Philosophical Papers, Levinas's Totality and Infinity, Cavell's The Claim of Reason and A Pitch of Philosophy. He is also a big fan of David Lynch's movies, Wagner's operas, Avishai Cohen, and E.S.T (Live in Hamburg). He has a passion for Argentinian tango and Cohíba Maduro 5 and Romeo y Julieta Exhibición No. 2 "Edición Limitada" cigars. He's very happy to be at Tufts in 2008.
