Felipe De Brigard got his BA in Philosophy at the Universidad Nacional
de
Colombia in 2001. But college was just a cover for his sundry,
underpaid
(sometimes not paid at all) extra-curricular endeavors, such as acting,
storytelling, magazine design, and clinical and cognitive research in
neuropsychology. Only time revealed his passion for philosophy and
psychology —- for his total lack of talent for acting was clear from the
outset. Nevertheless, it was his background as storyteller, rather
than his
academic studies, that allowed him to teach literature and philosophy
at a
high school level for almost three years, ‘til 2002, where he got a
place as
instructor in philosophy of mind and cognitive psychology at the
Department
of Philosophy at the Universidad Javeriana in Bogotá, Colombia. Now he
enjoys being a student again, reading master W. Obi van Quine, talking
about
films, music and the evolution of the mind, avoiding conversations
regarding
metaphysics —- for science is philosophy enough! —- and talking about
himself in
third person (but that is mainly because he hates the first-person
perspective). He’s also curious about the fact that his favorite book
in
CogSci, his favorite movie and his favorite piece of music for piano
are all
named alike.
