Biography

Gal Kober's primary areas of research are philosophy of biology and applied ethics. She is particularly interested in questions concerning evolutionary individuality, and the role of concepts in scientific theories. Her dissertation, which she completed at the philosophy department at Boston University, argued that "species" is a dysfunctional concept in the theory of evolutionary biology.

Her work in applied ethics focuses on bioethical questions such as human organ markets, and on conflicts regarding obligations to future generations in environmental contexts.
