Post a Listing

Our posting service is free and open to all landlords, as well as students.   Listings may take anywhere from 2 - 7 business days to be placed on our website unless we are closed. You will receive confirmation once your ad is placed if it is sent via email.  Please do not resend ads.

Listing Information  (Landlords please click to read)

The Off-Campus Housing Resource Center provides housing assistance to students, faculty, and staff of Tufts University who are seeking off-campus housing. Among the services provided is the on-line listing of privately owned available units in the surrounding communities.

Although we appreciate the housing resources offered to the Tufts population by the many reputable landlords and realtors in the area, we manage this service solely for the benefit of our students, faculty and staff. Therefore, we reserve the right to exclude any listing from our website. This includes the right to refuse an initial listing, as well as the right to remove a pre-existing listing. As a general rule, listings will be excluded whenever it is brought to our attention that the unit at issue does not meet minimum requirements under the Massachusetts State Sanitary Codes, that the property is in violation of any city ordinance, or that the landlord is otherwise failing to comply with federal, state, or local housing laws. Our goal is to offer a resource that will enable the users of the website to find clean, reasonably-priced, safe, secure, and adequate living accommodations. As such, we expect the community at Tufts University to encounter a positive, professional experience with the respective property owner or representative.  Thank you for your interest in listing your available property (s) with the Off-Campus Housing Resource Center at Tufts University.

ALERT: The Off-Campus Housing Website is not a secured site. It is not password protected.  Here are some tips to avoid scams and spam:

AVOIDING SCAMS

AVOIDING SPAM

  • If you post your email address as your contact information, mask your email to deter spambots. For example, “ochattufts.edu” or "och@tuftsdotedu" as opposed to "och@tufts.edu". Include this as part of the listing you are sending to us.

  • When listing with us, use a separate email address for things like spam, mailing lists, etc. If you don’t already have a separate email address, create one to use for public posting.

Notice of Non-Discrimination in Housing: Tufts University supports Massachusetts law, which states, in general, that discrimination is prohibited on the basis of race, religion, national origin, age, ancestry, military background or service, sex, sexual preference, marital status, blindness, deafness, or the need of a guide dog. (M. G. L. c.151B §4) No landlord can refuse to rent an apartment to you because you receive a rental subsidy, because the apartment contains lead, or, with some exceptions, because you have children.

To Post A Listing

(Landlord is reminded that Massachusetts law requires that the landlord provide an apartment that meets the state and local safety and health codes)

Please note that we only accept listings from property owners and landlords. We DO NOT accept listings from realtors/brokers. If you are a realtor and would like to be listed separately with our office, please email us.

There are three methods for submitting a listing: Email, Fax, and Mail

The quickest method is for the owner to email an advertisement to our office at
och@tufts.edu. We do not open attachments. See the instructions below for what to email us.

The listing should be in paragraph form (not all capitalized) including the following information:
on the subject line of your email or fax, indicate the category & city of your listing
choose only one category only - click here for a list of categories.
city or town where property is located; also general location within that community.
-  the street name (we do not list house numbers) and/or cross streets
number of bedrooms available
floor on which the apartment is located
number of units in the building (two or three family house, eight unit apartment building, etc)
number of parking spaces available, and whether parking is on-street or off-street
monthly rent per person or per apartment (please specify)
utilities--specify whether they are included or not in the rent, and which ones
deposit--what is the required security deposit; are first and last months' rent required?
dates of availability
contact information (name and phone number or email address)--this information must appear in the body of the text.
-   DO NOT include photos or links to photos. They will be removed from your listing.
-   Please limit personal information when posting roommates wanted ads to two sentences
.

The second method is a faxed form, which may be requested by calling 617-627-5319.  Complete the fax form and return it to our office via fax to 617-627-5305.

The third method is for the property owner/manager to supply a mailing address. We will mail a copy of the fax form to you for completion. Once we have received the completed form, we will post the information on the website. You may also visit our office and complete the form.
