The following real estate agencies have indicated interest in
assisting members of the Tufts University community with finding housing.
Although the Off-Campus Housing Resource Center does not advertise rental units
for realtors or brokers on the OCH website, this listing is made available here
for faculty, staff, and students who choose to utilize these services.
Disclaimer: Please note that the University assumes no
responsibility for contracts between individuals. The Off-Campus Housing
Resource Center (OCH) is not responsible for the outcome of any housing
arrangements. OCH does not endorse any of the following persons, agencies, or
services; they are provided only to serve as informational aids in your housing
quest.
Some of the listed real estate agencies may charge a
finder’s/broker’s fee. Be sure to ask about the fee, whether or not it is
negotiable, and when it must be paid. Make sure to read everything before you sign
any forms. A
property owner may ask for first month’s rent, last month’s rent, and a security
deposit. Each of these payments should not exceed the actual monthly payment
for the unit. The amount asked for up front will vary for each landlord.
However, under Massachusetts State Law an owner may not request more than the
above stated deposits.
The conditions of the lease should be specific and understood
by each member who will live in the household. Remember, the lease is a
legally binding contract.
