Pursuing a Graduate Degree
For students who want to pursue a graduate degree, with a
concentration in museum studies, Tufts offers a variety of degree
options. The Department of Art
and Art History offers a Master of Arts in Art History and
Museum Studies, and the
Department of History
offers a Master of Arts in History and Museum Studies. Both of these
programs combine coursework in a specific subject area with
pre-professional training for the museum field. In addition, the
Department of Education
offers a Master of Arts degree in Museum Education and the
Department of Classics
offers a Master of Arts degree in Classics and a Masters of Arts
degree in Classical Archaeology.
If you are considering applying to one of these three master's
degree programs, contact Graduate Studies for more
information at (617) 627-3395.
Museum School Students
Current students at the School of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston,
have the option of combining the Museum Studies certificate with a
Master of Fine Arts. MFA graduate students who have completed their
first year of study should contact the Museum Studies Program
Administrator for more information. (617) 627-3395
Applying to a Graduate Program
For current Museum Studies students who wish to apply to a graduate
program at Tufts, we try to make that transition as smooth as
possible. Once accepted into a degree program, a Museum Studies
certificate student is permitted, at no additional charge, to
transfer up to four applicable certificate courses.
