Yun Luo
Department of
Civil and Environmental Engineering
Yun Luo is an undergraduate student in the Civil and
Environmental Engineering Department at Tufts University.
Her research is focused on the histological analysis of
human abdominal aortic aneurysm tissue samples. Histology
is the microstructural anatomy of tissues, which can be
used to provide diagnostic information. Experimental data
have shown that individual tissue components have
characteristic mechanical properties. Correlating the
histological and mechanical information is therefore critical
to understand formation and growth of AAAs, which kill 14,000
people a year in the US.
She is also a Tisch Scholar at the Jonathan M. Tisch College
of Citizenship and Public Service, and she is currently
working with YouthBuild USA to help programs organize
charrettes on green building and research different green
building performance standards. She is also a Synaptic Scholar
at the Institute for Global Leadership, where she enjoys getting
inspired by her peers and they work together to foster intellectual
discussions on campus.
