Alexandra Chewning

Alex Chewning is a graduate student in the Eliot-Pearson Department of Child Development at Tufts University. She graduated with a B.A. in Psychology and Spanish from the University of Arizona, where she worked as a research assistant for both the Applied Behavioral Health Policy Division and the Department of Psychology. Ms. Chewning then served as a Youth Development Volunteer with the Peace Corps in Honduras. There, she spent two years working with street children, vulnerable youth, and their families. Ms. Chewning's research interests include contextual risk factors, especially poverty and maltreatment, during early and middle childhood, and the promotion of resiliency and positive parenting in the face of such risk. She is also interested in the acculturation, identity, and development of Latino children and families.
