Director:

Professor C. Cao, Department of Mechanical Engineering (http://ase.tufts.edu/mechanical/faculty/bios/cao.asp)

The Bachelor of Science in Human Factors / Engineering Psychology is an interdisciplinary degree programme that combines courses in engineering with courses in psychology and a number of other departments.  It is ideal for students planning a career or further graduate study in the field of Human Factors and Ergonomics.  Students generally elect the programme at the end of their first year.  The programme can be completed through either the School of Engineering (Department of Mechanical Engineering) or the School of Arts and Sciences (Department of Psychology).  Graduates of the programme acquire skills in advanced product and system design, safety analyses, human-computer interface design, workplace evaluation, physical and cognitive analyses, etc. using a human-centred systems approach.  This program is described in more detail in the Human Factors Information Booklet or under the section "Engineering Psychology" in the University Bulletin.  For additional information, see the Human Factors Society web site.
