Certificate
in Manufacturing Engineering
The certificate program is administered by the
Graduate and Professional
Studies. It is intended to benefit individuals who are: seeking career
advancement in the fields of automation, quality, processes, controls, or
technical sales; involved in the management of manufacturing processes;
interested in pursuing a career in manufacturing management; considering
graduate school. To earn the Certificate in Manufacturing Engineering, students
must successfully complete four of the following courses for credit:
- One required course: ME 125;
- either ME 182 or ME 184;
- and two from the following list: ME 108, ME 120, ME 123, ME 126, ME 129, ME 180,
ME 185, CE 102 and CE 188.
Course credits taken for the certificate may generally be applied to the MS
program in Mechanical Engineering at Tufts University. Students in the Master’s
degree programs can receive the Certificate in Manufacturing Engineering be
petitioning to the Office of Graduate and Professional Studies before taking the
fourth certificate course. For details about the transferring process, please

Certificate Programs in Human Factors
The Office of Graduate and Professional Studies in collaboration with faculty,
has developed a certificate program related to Human Factors called
Human-Computer Interaction. For more information about these two programs,
