We in the Mechanical Engineering Department at Tufts have defined "Medical Device and System Design" as one of our areas of focus. We feel strongly that this can only be successful if we have strong contacts with medical device manufacturers, so have been looking for ways to establish and promote these linkages.
To advance the state of the art of medical device technologies by:
a) Promoting the design of medical devices as a core competency within the School of Engineering,
b) Enhancing research and development programs focused on improving the understanding of medical device design and function, and
c) Enlarging relationships with local industry to identify research needs and encourage dialogue with students
