Why did you join MACC VISTA: I want(ed) to save the world.
How does service-learning benefit students and/or the community? Service-learning benefits both students and the community because it builds a stronger connection between the two. Putting time and hard work into doing something for the community will allow students to get a better aspect of what kind of environment they are living in. Students can actually get to know the community and feel they have a sense of belonging and also respect for it, as opposed to seeing it as just a place their school is located. The community can also benefit because not only are they getting individuals to help improve their surroundings, but they are also getting to see students as individuals and hopefully gain an appreciation for them.
