Why did you join MACC VISTA: With an interest in working in higher education, I knew the Campus Compact AmeriCorps*VISTA program could provide me with the opportunity to serve at an institution of higher education. In talking to multiple people who were aware of the various different CC VISTA programs, I heard MACC provided their VISTAs with excellent support and professional development opportunities. In my second year as a MACC VISTA, I can say I am very pleased with the MACC VISTA program and the experience I am getting by serving at higher education institutions.

How does service-learning benefit students and/or the community? Service-learning is both beneficial to the students and their community placement. It provides the students an opportunity to apply what they learned in a professional setting. For the community partners, it is an opportunity to have knowledgeable students work in their office in a way that can help them build capacity and work on special initiatives.
