Why did you join MACC VISTA: I joined MACC because I wanted to give back to college students after having the opportunity to learn leadership skills from a Campus Compact AmeriCorps*VISTA as an undergraduate. I also joined because I knew that the MACC AmeriCorps*VISTA program would provide valuable resources and opportunities for me to professionally grow and find out whether or not I want to pursue a Masters in Student Affairs.
What can students contribute to local community based organizations? Students can offer many services by interning or volunteering at a community based organization. They can provide insight on how to build capacity on a particular program, as well as offer an additional hand to make sure a program runs smoothly. By contributing their time to a community based organization, they not only provide support to the organization, but they take with them valuable experiences that will last with them for a lifetime.
