Why did you join MACC VISTA: Going to graduate school is the ultimate goal of mine in the next few years, but I knew when I entered my senior year at Elon Univeristy that I wanted to spend a year or two making some kind of a difference for my country. The Campus Compact program for AmeriCorps seemed ideal for me and MACC was highly regarded as one of the best programs in the country through many people whose opinion I respected.
How does service-learning benefit students and/or the community? Service-learning is beneficial to students because it gives them an opportunity to put learning into practice. Community partners are benefiting from the skills and fresh ideas students have, as well as meeting the organizations needs that otherwise would not be met.
