Why did you join MACC VISTA: I knew that I wanted to take a year off before continuing with my education but was unsure what exactly I wanted to do. To me, MACC VISTA was a great opportunity to do something that involves the two things I love, volunteering and involving myself in the community. It is a way for me to learn about myself and my community and to grow as a person. I also see it as a door opener for new opportunities to come.

How does service-learning benefit students and /or the community? Service-learning is beneficial to both the students and the community. It allows students to build a connection with the community. They are able to take classroom topics into the community and gain hands on experience. It helps the community because there is improvement in the community in some way one volunteer experience at a time. Service-learning is a way for the students to get involved, make a difference, and learn.
