Why did you join MACC VISTA: MACC offers a great bridge between my interest in higher education and my passion for community-building through service. In addition, it was important for me to be a part of a community-oriented program that provided a support network and inspiring friends.
What can students contribute to local community based organizations? Students can contribute their time, lots of energy, and - at times - a new perspective to community-based organizations. The student volunteers can be a campus resource and campus advocate for the CBO and its mission. Students can share their experiences with friends and classmates on their campuses in order to recruit new volunteers, educate others on important issues in their immediate community, and help build stronger relationships between the campus and CBOs.
