Study Group Format
Fall & Spring
During our fall and spring terms, most study groups run for eight weeks, though we
sometimes offer a selection of four, six, and other-length offerings as well. Each session
generally lasts for two hours, at either 10am-noon or 1:30-3:30pm. Offerings on the Tufts
Medford campus generally meet on Monday or Friday on the Medford campus, while offerings
at our "satellite campus" in Lexington (Brookhaven at Lexington, a not-for-profit lifecare
living community) typically meet on Wednesdays. Exceptions, when they arise, are listed
in our quarterly course catalog.
Summer & Winter
Our winter term runs for just four weeks – the perfect length for members
who spend part of the winter away from home, or who don't want to deal with
wintertime commuting for eight weeks. Most of our winter study groups run for
the length of the term (four weekly sessions) but we try to include some
1- and 2-session options in our program as well, to better accommodate the
schedules of our class participants and study group leaders alike. As is the
case during the fall and the spring, sessions generally last two hours each,
with offerings at the Tufts Medford campus on Mondays and Fridays, and
offerings at Brookhaven at Lexington on Wednesdays.
Our summer term is two weeks long: Monday through Friday during the first two
weeks of June. Not very long, we know, but a wonderful way to learn something new
before heading out of town for the summer. Our summer program generally includes a
delightful mix of 1-, 2-, and 4-session study groups. Feel free to mix and match as
you see fit. Classes during the summer meet on the Medford campus, at Brookhaven at
Lexington, and occasionally off-site for an exciting field trip.
