Marilyn Blumsack, Director
My life's odyssey is a continuum of lifelong learning. I was a mother when I re-entered
college (Tufts University) and graduated (A79) magna cum laude, Phi Beta Kappa.
I became a grandmother as I continued my odyssey earning an M.Ed. also at Tufts
University (G82). Community service in leadership roles in the City of Medford I
also enjoyed along the way, for example: President, Lawrence Memorial Hospital of
Medford Auxiliary; Board of Directors, Friends of the Medford Public Library; Board
of Directors, Women's Council of Temple Shalom. All were an integral part of my
adventure, but the Medford Public Schools provided most of the varied opportunities
I had to develop and enhance my creative and energetic spirit. For more than twenty-five
years I have enjoyed every role whether as teacher, coordinator and implementor
of the Gifted/Talented program, or coordinator of the Medford Schools Volunteer
program, advisor to the Medford High School Student Council for twenty-one years,
or as coordinator/coach of Worlds' finalist Odyssey-of-the Mind team or as a classroom
teacher. My administrative and leadership skills have been my standard. Tufts University
played a most important part in my journey, and now I feel a sense of pride doing
what I can whether as past President of the Association of Tufts Alumnae (ATA) or
an elected member of the Alumni Council. Long ago I learned to use this rationale
as my guideline: Everyone you meet knows something you don't know but need to know.
Learn from them.
