| The Rainbow House exists to provide a safe and welcoming
space for all gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) students and
their allies, and to serve as a bridge between LGBT students and the entire
Tufts community. The rainbow is an LGBT symbol representing the diversity
of our community, and we chose it as the symbol of our house to represent
the variety of people we are in gender, race, ethnicity, religious belief
and, of course, sexual orientation.
Rainbow House residents are dedicated to the values of
safety, acceptance, and diversity outlined above. While the house provides
a space for its residents to live and study in a queer-friendly atmosphere,
Rainbow House residents in turn open up the house periodically to the rest
of the Tufts community in order to provide safe and friendly social events
for all, but particularly for other LGBT students. The Rainbow House
strives to be a model of living in diversity and helps educate all of Tufts
about the value of ending homophobia, transphobia, and other forms of bias
and discrimination. |
