Who We Are, What We Do
Team Q is a group of students trained to speak about lesbian, gay,
bisexual, and transgender issues. The team makes these issues real for
audiences by sharing their personal stories as lesbian, gay, bisexual,
transgender, an ally students. The group speaks to residence halls,
classes, sports teams, religious organizations, student organizations, and
many other audiences.
Discussions can focus on general LGBT issues, or can be focused on
specific topics for your group.
To schedule a Team Q event for your dorm, group, class, etc., contact the
LGBT Center at 617-627-3770 or Sofia
Nelson at TuftsTeamQ@hotmail.com.
Past workshops have included such topics as:
- Queer Life at Tufts
- Gays and Greeks: Do They Mix?
- Homophobia in Campus Housing
- How to deal with someone struggling with their sexual identity
- Queer Info 101
- LGBT Issues on Sports Teams
- Stereotypes in the Mass Media
Fall Training Retreat
If you are a Tufts student interested in becoming a member of TEAM Q, we
have a 3-day training retreat in Provincetown (a really queer little town on
the tip of Cape Cod, MA) each October. The trip is free except for the cost
of food. Sign on to our e-list to
receive information.
We especially encourage people who identify as transgender, students of
color, and allies to apply.
People who have already been trained can apply to be trained again, though
new people will receive priority if space if limited.
