Emily
Mears Staff Assistant
Emily Mears is the Staff Assistant for the LGBT Center and
The Latino Center at Tufts University. In 2008 she attended UMass
Dartmouth and received her B.A. in Psychology and a minor in Women's
Studies. In addition to her administrative skills, Emily is also
passionate about working with diverse groups that often experience great
adversity. As a former intern for domestic violence and substance abuse
shelters throughout southeastern Massachusetts she has fostered a "roll
up your sleeves" kind of attitude when comes to challenging inequalities
of race, gender, sexuality and class. This is especially true to her ten
years of being a reservist in the U.S. Coast Guard.
Emily is excited to be working with the students, staff and faculty at
Tufts University. She hopes to become more involved in the social justice
initiatives that speak true to the centers and to gain the knowledge
necessary to successfully support both the Latino and LGBT Centers.
