Each October, the Association of Latin American Students, along with the Latino Center, help Tufts University celebrate Latino Heritage Month. Heritage Month kicks off with a reception in the Latino Center. The previous Heritage Months have been filled with activities, speakers and performers. We have had a panel on immigration policy and reform as well as a performance of Yo Soy Latina. Our activities range from a Poetry Night where students showcase their poetic skills to a Salsa night at Hotung with a live salsa band!
The goal of Latino Heritage Month is to raise awareness in the Tufts Community about Latino issues, both in the United States and in Latin America. Through our events, we hope to help people gain a better undestanding of what it means to be Latino and learn about the rich culture and history that we all share.
