Objectives

ITS offers web log files and monthly statistics for departmental web sites within the School of Arts and Sciences at Tufts University. The web development team at ITS, including qualified students, will provide the log files and prepare and publish site statistics based upon the guidelines imposed by ITS.

Benefits

On a daily basis, raw log files detailing activity within your site can be published to a web accessible location. You can then process these files to get a plethora of useful information about how people are using your site (total page hits, number of visitors, etc.). Optionally, if you don't have a program for analyzing the raw web log files, ITS will process these files monthly and post the results to a web accessible location for a nominal fee (this fee is waived for departments participating in the ITS Flat Rate Site Maintenance program).

Guidelines

What ITS Offers:
Basically, there are two offerings: every day, you can receive the raw web log files relating to your site, or, for a fee, you can monthly receive a statistical report generated from the raw log files. Please refer to the following examples to understand the difference in the offerings.

Access to Site Log Files:

Every morning by 9AM, a zip file containing the current month's raw web log files through the previous day will be published to a web accessible, password protected area. Archives from previous month(s) will be kept for one year. Site logs from the dates prior to your enrollment in the program are not available.

Monthly Processing of Site Log Files:

Each month ITS will process the previous month's activity and publish the summary statistics to a web accessible location. At the time of enrollment, you may specify if the site statistics should be publicly available or password protected. Departments not participating in the ITS Flat Rate Site Maintenance program will be charged a nominal fee for this processing.

Fees

Raw web site logs are available free of charge for any department or organization being hosted on an ITS maintained web service. Departments falling under the http://ase.tufts.edu/ framework (i.e. your site URL starts with http://ase.tufts.edu) interested in the monthly processing of site log files will be billed a $150/year flat fee. For departments participating in the ITS Flat Rate Site Maintenance program, there are no fees associated with the processing of site statistics. Departments that do not fall under the http://ase.tufts.edu/ framework but are still hosted on ITS maintained web services will be billed at a different amount depending on the amount of traffic that your site generates. **Fees subject to change as needed.
