Update Your Website - How to Post Files

Uploading files to the ASE server

For websites hosted on the ASE server, there are three basic ways to upload changes to your site (if your site's content is not managed by ITS):

  1. Frontpage
This program allows you to both edit and upload the pages of your site, all with the same WYSIWYG program.

  2. WebDAV: You can edit your web pages locally then upload the files to the ase server with a WebDAV client., or you may edit the files directly on the server.  Keep in mind that if you choose the latter option, daily back-ups are run but a requested date may not be available should you ever need a file restore.

  3. Dreamweaver: like Frontpage, you can use Dreamweaver as a WYSIWYG editor. Once you are done editing your webpages in Dreamweaver, you can use its built-in WebDAV client to upload your files to the server (instead of ftp which is no longer an option for uploading to our new web server).  Please note that as our WebDAV server makes use of a secure connection (SSL), Dreamweaver versions prior to version 8 are not supported.
