Service Standards
Though it is strongly encouraged that the guidelines for fully supported
hardware/software be followed, it is recognized that there are times when this
is not feasible. Therefore support is categorized as described below.
Level 1 - Full Support
Standard hardware/software that is noted above. Benefits:
- All pertinent services noted in
The Delivery of Technology
and the Role of ITS (Services Provided) will be provided
- New ITS departmental systems and applications can be requested
- New and current Tufts, A&S, and ITS systems and applications will run
properly and efficiently
- Quicker problem resolution and turnaround time
- Resources and sources for additional assistance such as Email discussion
groups, user groups, listservs, web sites, product/vendor phone numbers, FAQ
(frequently asked questions) and common problem/resolution lists, will be made
available.
Level 2 - Partial Support
Recommended and supported hardware running software NOT noted as supported.
In such a case, hardware will be supported to the extent possible but not to
such length as to assure software problem resolution. The hardware will be
supported to the extent that fully supported/recommended software works
properly.
Level 3 - No Support
Software NOT noted as supported. Hardware purchased after January 1, 1998
NOT noted as supported. Supported software running on hardware purchased after
January 1, 1998 NOT noted as supported.
*Off-Campus PC's - Please note that ITS provides only limited
support of Tufts-owned computers that are housed off-campus. ITS offers phone
support for such computers - assuming the hardware and software are within the
supported lists - and the ITS Staff will make every effort to resolve issues
over the phone. If the problem cannot be resolved over the phone, the user is
welcome to make an appointment to bring the computer into the ITS Office for
further service.
ITS will not, under any circumstances, go to any off
campus or non-Tufts location to service Tufts owned computers/equipment.
Additionally, ITS will not support any computer that is not owned by Tufts
University.
Email support ONLY is available to retired faculty wishing to keep their Tufts email account.
There are no exceptions to these limitations.
