Ordering Hardware & Software
It's important that newly purchased hardware and software be properly
selected. To purchase hardware and software that is
compatible with your current configuration and environment, to get the most for
your money, and to be assured of ITS support (including delivery, setup and
training!), please order hardware and software as described in the tables
below.
Hardware
The hardware configurations below, taken from the
Hardware & Software
Standards document, are recommended minimum configurations for NEW PCs/Macs
in A&S. Based upon the University-wide Desktop Standards Committee
recommendation for new purchases, with adjustments for A&S, only hardware
purchased from the manufacturers listed and meeting the minimum configuration
noted below will be supported by ITS. Note: this applies only to NEWLY
purchased PCs/Macs. Older equipment will be
grandfathered
according to the Hardware & Software Standards document.
A committee of A&S faculty and staff review hardware and
software standards and make changes, additions and deletions as necessary.

Software
The following chart, taken from the Hardware & Software
Standards document, lists the recommended software for A&S. Based upon the
A&S Desktop Standards Committee recommendation for new purchases, only software
purchased from the manufacturers listed and meeting the minimum configuration
noted below will be supported by ITS. Only Legal copies of software will be
installed and appropriate licensing is required for ITS support and
installation. Note that the version number refers to the lowest version

Purchasing Hardware and Software
Before purchasing hardware and software, please contact ITS for consulting and
planning services. ITS will ensure that the selections are appropriate and will
be supported. Try the

Hardware Replacement plan!
After consulting with ITS, complete a standard Tufts requisition form and
send it to Purchasing.
However, if an order is part of the A&S Hardware Replacement Plan, please
follow these instructions
instead. Be sure to order exactly what the ITS Information Analyst
specifies and to include the further specifications noted on the
configurations
page. For PC/Mac hardware, send a copy of the requisition - and any other
software or additional hardware requisitions - to ITS so that preparations may
be made and resources planned.
