Printing to the Computer Labs and Libraries from Your Personal Computer

Many of you have used our computer labs and libraries and are familiar with the pay for print system we utilize for printing from Tufts owned computers. Now students, faculty, and staff can print to the same location from anywhere ON CAMPUS using your own computers, whether it's a desktop, laptop, Mac, or PC. Installation of the following packages will allow you to send a print job to the location specified.

PC Users

* If the initial installation fails, please try deleting the printer (if a new one was
  added) and uninstalling/reinstalling the package.

Mac Users
Only one Mac package can be installed on your computer at any time.  For example: If you've installed the Medford Public Queue on your Mac, and you want to switch to using the Tisch Library Queue on that Mac, you must uninstall the client first by following these instructions:

  • Open the System Preferences and select "Print and Fax."
  • Select the printer that you want to remove and click the minus symbol to remove that printer.
  • Close the "Print and Fax" preference window.
  • Run the Pharos uninstaller located on your computer in  LIBRARY > APPLICATION SUPPORT>PHAROS>UTILITIES folder.
  • Check the box that says PHAROS POPUP and select Continue.  Verify the component to be removed and select Continue again.
  • The Pharos client will be uninstalled and the process is Done.

Please note, different install packages are necessary depending upon the Mac OS on your computer.

Cost for printing from your personal computer are the same as using the public machines:

  • Black and white prints are 10 cents per page.
  • Color prints (in the Olin Language Media Lab) are 50 cents per page.

Retrieving your printing job
Following installation of the appropriate package, send a print job in the same way you would if you were using the lab. At your convenience (within 12 hours), stop by any of the locations supported by the print driver you installed and use the pay for print release station to access your print job.
