Step-By-Step
Student Viewing Grades
(Text version)
1. If your instructor uses the Blackboard Gradebook function, you can view
your grades by:
- Log into Blackboard as usual.
- Click on the "View Grades" link located in the "Tools" box on the left
side of your Blackboard homepage. This will display links to the gradebook
view of each of your Blackboard course sites.
- Click on the link for the course you want to check your grades. This will
display the View Grades page for that course site.
- The far left column will list the names of the items the instructor has
made available for viewing. Your grade for each item is listed under the "Grade"
column. The "Class Average" column lists the average class grade
for this item. If your instructor has chosen to use the Blackboard gradebook
to calculate "weighted" grades, the weight assigned to each item
will be listed in the column labeled "Weights".
- Some instructors allow students to view an item labeled "Total". The "Total"
item reflects the average grade for all of the items graded by the instructor.
This "Total" grade is listed at the bottom of the "Grade" column.
- Some instructors allow students to view an item labeled "Weighted Total".
The "Weighted Total" reflects the current percentage grade (or score) for
all of the items graded to date allowing for the weights assigned to each
item. This "Weighted Total" grade is listed at the bottom of the "Grade" column. If
all of the items for the entire course are not yet graded, this percentage
grade may appear to be low because it does not include all of the items
graded for the course.
- An alternative access to a course site gradebook is to log into the course
site and click on Tools / View Grades.
