Student Homepages

1. Blackboard provides all student accounts on a course site with a Student
Homepage. This is a simple web page build into each course site for students
to post information about themselves to share with other member of the course
site.
2. To access your Student Homepage:
- Log into the Blackboard course site as usual.
- Go to Tools / Edit Your Homepage. This will display the Student Homepage
form.
- Under section #1, you can add an intro message in the "Introduction
Message" box and personal information is the "Personal Information"
box.
- Under section #2, you can upload an image of yourself. The image must be
in either JPG, GIF or PNG format and should be sized no greater than 300 x
300 pixels. To upload an image, click on the "Browse" button. This
will display your computer's file locater dialogue box. Using the dropdown
box on the top of the file locator, locate the directory and folder that contains
the image file you want to post. Click on the name of the file then click
on the "Open" button on the file locator. The locator dialogue box
will disappear and the path to the image file will be located in the box next
to the "Browse" button.
- If you want to remove an image file you posted earlier, checkmark the "Remove
this Image" checkbox. You cannot remove an old image and upload a new
one at the same time. If you want to replace an image with a new one, first
remove the old image then go back to the Student Homepage form and add a new
one.
- Under section #3, you can add up to 3 web site links. Type in a title, the
complete URL and a description for each site.
- When you are finished, click on the "Submit" button at the bottom
of the page. A receipt will be displayed telling you that your page has been
updated. You can return to this page and edit it at any time.
3. To view your Student Homepage or the Homepages of other students in your
course site:
- Go to Communication / Roster. This will display a search box for locating
student accounts on the course site.
- Click on the "Search" button (without typing anything in the search
box). This will list all of the student accounts in the class.
- Click on the name of a student. This will display that student's Homepage.
- As an alternative, you can type in a student's last name in the search box
and then click on the "Search" button. This will display all of
the student's on the course site having that last name. Click on the name
of a student to display that student's Homepage.
4. All student Homepage information and images are deleted from the course
site when the student account is removed from the course site.
