Step-By-Step
Setting a Course Entry Point

(Text version)

1. Instructors and TAs can set which course site page is the opening page of the course site. The opening page of the course site is the page Blackboard will first display when a user enters the course site. By default, each course site opens to the Announcements page.

2. To set a new course site entry point:

  • Log into the Blackboard course site as usual.
  • Go to Control Panel / Settings. This displays the Settings page.
  • Click on the "Set Course Entry Point" link. This displays the Set Course Entry Point form.
  • Use the dropdown box to choose a new area to set as the course site's entry point. The choices are among the course site's menu buttons. If you want a special page set as the entry point be sure to first create that menu item in the Control Panel / Manage Menu section before setting the new entry point.
  • When finished, click on the "Submit" button at the bottom of the page. A receipt will be displayed telling you that the new entry point has been updated.
  • Exit from the control panel and return to the course site. You must click on your browser's "refresh" or "reload" button to see the new entry point. After clicking on the "refresh" or "reload" button, the next time you log into Blackboard the new entry point will appear as the opening page.
