Creating a Question Pool
Exporting and Importing Pools
(Text version)
1. Instructors and TAs can create Pools of questions using Blackboard's
Pool Manager function. Blackboard Question Pools can be used to supply questions
to any Test or pool. Pools can be exported or imported from your hard drive
making them available to all of your course sites. To export
a Blackboard Question Pool:
- Log into the Blackboard course site as usual.
- Go to Control Panel / Pool Manager. This displays the Pool Manager page.
Any previously created Pool will be listed on this page.
- Click on the "Export" button to the right of the Pool you want to export.
This will display your computer's File Download dialogue box.
- Click on "Save". This will display your computer's "Save As" dialogue box.
- Decide where to save the file to your hard drive. Re-name the file
to something appropriate.
Click on "Save". The Pool file is now saved on your computer's hard drive.
2. To Import a Pool file:
- Go to Control Panel / Pool Manager. This displays the Pool Manager page.
Any previously created Pool will be listed on this page.
- Click on the "Import" button on the top of the page.
This will display the Pool Import form.
- Click on the "Browse" button. This will display your computer's
file locater dialogue box. Using the dropdown box on the top of the file
locator, locate the directory and folder that contains the Pool file you
want to import. You can only import Pool files that have been previously
exported. Click on the name of the file then click on the "Open" button
on the file locator. The locator dialogue box will disappear and the path
to the file will be located in the box next to the "Browse" button.
- Click on the "Submit" button. A receipt will be displayed telling
you that the file has been imported. "Click on "OK". This displays the Pool
Manager page with the imported Pool listed.
