Logging Into Blackboard

1. Blackboard supports Microsoft Explorer Version 5.0 or above and Netscape Navigator Version 5.0 or above and for Macintosh users, the Safari browser.

2. To access the Tufts University Blackboard site direct your browser to:
http://blackboard.tufts.edu
This will display the Tufts University Blackboard Splash Page.

3. The Splash page contains instructions for student usernames and passwords as well as information on changing your Blackboard e-mail address or password.

All Tufts University students, by default, have a Blackboard account. A student's username is their last name plus the last 4 digits of their Tufts student ID Number. This username contains no spaces, hyphens or apostrophes. A student's password is their full Tufts University ID Number with no spaces or dashes.

Instructors and Staff members need to request a Blackboard account from the Blackboard administrator. Instructors and Staff members can click on the "Click Here" link on the Blackboard Splash page to request a Blackboard account. Students can also use this link to contact the Blackboard Administrator.

4. To log into Blackboard:

• Click on the "login" button located on the Blackboard Splash Page. This will display the login dialogue box.
• Type in your Blackboard username.
• Type in your Blackboard password.
• Click on the "login" button.

5. This will display your Blackboard home page. All of the Blackboard course sites in which you have an account will be listed on the right side of the display. To access any course site simply click on the course named link.

You can return to your home page by clicking on the "Home" tab at the top of the display. You can then access a different course site by clicking on the link without having to re-log into Blackboard.

6. Not all instructors use Blackboard for their courses so not all of the courses you have registered for may be listed under "my Courses".
