Step-By-Step
Hiding and Removing Buttons

(Text version)

1. Instructors and TAs can configure their Blackboard course site menu by hiding or removing any of the navigation buttons on the left side of the Blackboard display.

2. To hide any of the navigation buttons:

  • Log into the Blackboard course site as usual.
  • Go to Control Panel / Manage Course Menu. This displays the Manage Course Menu page.
  • Click on the "Modify" button next to the button you want to hide.
  • Uncheck the box marked "Make available for Student/Participant users" .
  • Click on the "Submit" button at the bottom of the page. A receipt will be displayed telling you that the menu item has been updated.

3. To Remove any of the navigation buttons:

  • Go to Control Panel / Manage Course Menu. This displays the Manage Course Menu page.
  • Click on the "Remove" button next to the button you want to remove.
  • A warning will appear warning you that the action cannot be undone. Click on "OK" .
  • Note: it is generally a better idea to "hide" buttons rather than "removing" buttons.
