Step-By-Step
Electric Blackboard Notepad
(Text version)
1. Blackboard provides all users with a course site notepad called Electric
Blackboard. This is a simple notepad build into each course site for students
to write and store memos or notes. Each user has their own Electric Blackboard
note pad for each course site. The content of the notepads cannot be shared
among students.
2. To access your Electric Blackboard notepad:
- Log into the Blackboard course site as usual.
- Go to Tools / Electric Blackboard. This will open a small window containing
the notepad. (Note: Instructors have the ability to block this functions so
it may not be available to all students on all course sites).
- Type or cut and paste comments into the notepad window.
- When you are finished, click on the "Submit" button at the bottom
of the window. A receipt will be displayed telling you that the notepad has
been updated. Click "OK" to return to the notepad window.
- When you exit Blackboard be sure to close this window by clicking on the
"X" in the upper right hand corner of the window.
- Comments submitted to the notepad are saved on the Blackboard server. The
next time you open the Electric Blackboard in that course site your comments
will be displayed.
- To remove comments from the notepad, select the text you want removed and
click on the delete button on your keyboard.
- The material saved in your Electric Blackboard will remain on the server
until the end of the semester. When your account is removed from the Blackboard
course site all of the material in the Electric Blackboard notepad is deleted.
