Step-By-Step
Copying and Moving Files
(Text version)
1. Blackboard allows instructors and TAs to copy and move files or folders
from one part of a course site to another part of the course site. To copy or
move a file or folder:
- Log into the Blackboard course site as usual.
- Go to Control Panel. Click on the content area that contains the file or
folder you want to copy or move.
- Click on the "Copy" button located to the right of the file or
folder you want to copy. This will display the Copy/Move form for that item.
- Click on the "Browse" button under section marked "Destination".
A course site map window will open displaying the content areas and folders
currently on the course site. You may have to click on the plus (+) sign to
see all of the folders.
- Select the radio button for the content area or folder you want to copy
or move the file or folder to. You can only move a file or folder to an existing
content area or folder.
- Click on the "submit" button in the course map window. The window
will disappear and the path to the content area or folder will be listed in
the box next to the browse button.
- If you want to just move the file or folder to a new location select the
"Yes" radio button next to "Delete item after copy?".
- If you want to just copy the file or folder to a new location select the
"No" radio button next to "Delete item after copy?".
- Click on the "Submit" button at the bottom of the page. If you
choose to delete the original you will receive a warning. Click "OK".
The item is now copied or moved.
