Step-By-Step
Changing Navigation Button Design
(Text version)
1. Instructors and TAs can change the course site's navigation button design.
2. To change the navigation button design:
- Log into the Blackboard course site as usual.
- Go to Control Panel / Settings. This displays the Settings page.
- Click on Course Design / Course Design. This displays the Course Design
form.
3. Under section #1, you can choose to either use buttons for navigation (the
default setting) or use "Text" set against a colored background as
the navigation. To use "Text" set against a colored background as
the navigation:
- Select the "Text" radio button. This will change the display to
select the style properties for the Text navigation.
- Under section #2, click on the "Pick" button and select a background
color for the navigation panel. A color chooser box will open to allow you
to select a background color.
- Next click on the "Pick" button and select a color for the text
itself. A color chooser box will open to allow you to select a text color.
- Make sure that the background and text colors are contrasting so that the
text will stand out against the background color.
- When finished, click on the "Submit" button at the bottom of the
page. A receipt will be displayed telling you that the new course design has
been updated.
4. To use "Buttons" for navigation:
- Under section #1, select the "Button" radio button. This will
change the display to select style properties for button navigation.
- Under section #2, click on the "Gallery of Buttons" link. This
will open a new window with a means of view all of the available button styles.
- By default, the button type "Pattern" and the button shape "Rounded
Corners is displayed. You can see other button styles and shapes by clicking
on the different button type radio buttons and/or the different button shape
radio buttons.
- When you find a type and style button you want to use on the course site,
click on its name. The button gallery window will close and the button type
and style will be displayed in the "Style Properties" under section
#2.
- When finished, click on the "Submit" button at the bottom of the
page. A receipt will be displayed telling you that the new course design has
been updated.
